Leader      Someone who runs a government that supports the USA. (Curiously enough our "gung-ho" leaders include a draft-dodging US leader, a guitar-strumming UK leader [51st state?], and two pacifist UK glove puppets [one was opposed to UK involvement in the Gulf and the other, the Minister of Defence, doesn't believe in guns]
Military leader      A US officer who has watched John Wayne in "The Green Beret" three times (without laughing once).
Mission creep      The excuse to be used for carrying out the planned ground war.
NATO      The United States of America (except when ground troops are required). nb: When Clinton referred to the NATO countries taking part in the attack on Yugoslavia, he said "NATO and our allies".  Ooops!
Nothin' worth worrying about     The military forces of the Russian Federation (makes one wonder why we need NATO).
